There is a story behind these beautiful pieces of deliciousness! One of falling in love that will forever be cherished in this household. But while Starbucks no longer makes and sells these, and I no longer shop at Starbucks… They sadly entered my 3 strikes and your out list. I needed to find a way to celebrate the day my husband and I fell in love. Over a Maple Oat Nut Scone, tucked inside a corner seat at a Starbucks.

Without any fan fare let’s get straight into the recipe. I use a Kitchen Aid to make this recipe. But first… If you want to see the video of making these… you can watch that here:

Mix the following together:
- 1 1/2 Cups Soft White Wheat freshly ground flour
- 1 Cup of Regular Oats finely ground (I use a Nutri-Bullet but a blender works amazing)
- 2 Tablespoon Sugar
- 1/2 Teaspoon Salt
- 1 Tablespoon Baking Powder
Mix it all together and then mix in the following to this mixture:
- 2 Tablespoon Maple Syrup
- 2 1/2 Tablespoons of Cold Butter chopped up into small pieces.
Then add the remaining ingredients:
- 1 egg picked straight from the chickens (or grocery store)
- 1/2 cup Nestle Media Crema* or Heavy Whipping Cream
- 1 Teaspoon Maple Extract
Mix it just until it’s all incorporated and then fold in the nuts.
- 2/3 Chopped Pecans. I like finely chopped but that’s me.
Place it on a floured cutting board roll into an 8 inch circle and cut into 8 scone shaped pieces. Or pat out and wing it. It doesn’t have to be perfect.
Bake at 425 for 10-15 minutes. Depending on your oven.
*I used Media Crema for this recipe for several reasons. 1. I am testing using the ways to use this product because it’s shelf stable and allows me, who lives far away from any place with heavy cream for a decent price and 2. I don’t have to worry about a ton of extra waste going bad before I can use it. So far… I am liking my test. It does cost slightly more… But I am going for the no waste and delicious taste right now.
Back to the scones….
Once they come out of the oven let them cool. Then mix up the glaze:
- 1 Cups Powdered Sugar
- 1/2 Teaspoon Maple Extract
- 1 Tablespoon water
Wisk these together and add more of the water a teaspoon at a time to get the glaze consistency as you would like. I mix this in a shallow bowl so I can dunk my scones in to coat.
Once the scones are cool.. Dunk and let harden on a cooling rack. Or like us… Eat.
